Maintain safe distance – always allow enough space between you and other vehicles in front of you. This will almost guarantee you will never tale-hit a vehicle in case of the vehicle’s sudden stop in front of you.

Obey speed limit – the speed limit on roads were invented for us to follow. please obey the speed limit and this will help you avoid accidents.

Tip # 3:
Legally change lane – this means you have to signal, look above your shoulder and make sure there is no car hidden in your blind spot before making a lane change. This will help you avoid accidents in the sides of your car.

Obey traffic laws and signs – it is important to obey traffic laws and signs. If you see a pedestrian in a crosswalk, stop for them. If you see construction zone drive accordingly. If you are in a school zone please be carful, children like to jump into the road in case they are chasing a ball or anything like that.

You must not – drink and drive, read or talk on your cell phone while driving and most importantly don’t encourage aggressive drivers.

Tune up your car – make sure your car is up to date with all fluids and also make sure the tires are in good condition.

NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is working to enforce new braking standards intended to decrease serious accidents by improving truck stopping distance by 30 percent.

They estimate that the new braking requirement will save 227 lives a year, will prevent 300 serious injuries, and reduce property damage costs by over $169 million annually.

Road Safe America has launched a web-based national petition drive to create community demand for President Obama, Congress, and DOT or department of transportation to require speed governors be set at 65 MPH or lower on heavy commercial vehicles. They have been standard equipment on trucks since 1992, but are not required to be activated to regulate and enforce the 65 MPH.
