Rodgers completed passes to six receivers in the Cowboys game

When Nelson was knocked out of the wild-card win over the Giants with broken ribs, Rodgers shrugged it off and destroyed the Giants through the air the rest of the way. Afterward, he simply said that he believed the Packers would be fine from then on with who they had.

Geronimo (Allison) has been playing a lot for us, he said. Randall (Cobb) being back healthy we’re better with 18 on the field, but Geronimo is going to have to step up and play if Jordys out.

Rodgers completed passes to six receivers in the Cowboys game, pretty much every active skill-position player they dressed. He threw for 356 yards, and Cook and Richard Rodgers caught touchdown passes.

Instead of you like that being the lasting impression, it will be what happened against the Giants at home in Week 17.

New York had it’s wild-card spot locked up and was playing it very carefully with key players on both sides of the ball. Cousins had multiple chances to turn a frustrating 19-10 loss into a Redskins victory. His numbers 22 of 35, 287 yards, TD, two INTs just didn’t add up to that.

Cousins struggled with decision making and moving the ball with a short-to-intermediate passing game in a scoreless first half. His first interception, in the third quarter, came on a throw from right outside the red zone. His second interception, in the fourth quarter, on a potential game-tying drive, came right outside of field-goal range.vikings_119

He did so because he wanted to win a championship

An eight-time All-Star, four-time scoring champion and former MVP, Durant finished with 18 points in 30 minutes, good enough for third on the team. Reigning back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry poured in a game-high 30 points, and his Splash Brother, two-time All-NBA choice Klay Thompson, added 21. Durant’s scoring output was just better than that of Draymond Green, an All-Defensive First-Team choice the past two seasons, who notched his 22nd career triple-double with 17 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to complete the sweep of Utah.

He did so because he wanted to win a championship, and on Monday he sealed that accomplishment. But he got a little more out of all this than hardware. He got back to actually enjoying his job.

The Warriors’ style of play has helped that. This team has made the game easy for Durant. For nine years, Durant was starring in an isolation-heavy offense in Oklahoma City, sharing possessions with point guard Russell Westbrook. The team was talented, but Durant seemed to be less and less at ease as the seasons went on.
Lance Parrish Mens Jersey
Durant has become part of a team that runs a magnificent, instinctual ball-sharing offense that highlights his skill and versatility. Never was that more apparent than in the NBA Finals, with Durant earning the series MVP after averaging 35.2 points per game.

Tracy Mcgrady Mens Jersey Despite all the public hand-wringing, fact is, the Cavs and Warriors didn’t even rest players all that often this season. Golden State’s top five players rested a total of 13 games 鈥?two for Stephen Curry, three each for Rio Olympians Draymond Green and Klay Thompson and five for Andre Iguodala. Kevin Durant technically did not get games off for rest because he missed 20 games with injuries.

GM: If everything stays the same, it is a toss-up between Jackson and Tatum for them, I think. Jackson is more of an athlete, he has some pretty good potential on both sides of the ball, he could be an elite defender. Tatum is going to be a really good scorer, maybe a 20-point-per-game guy.

LeBron James pauses for selfie during postgame press conference

Elite Dan Bailey Jersey LeBron James’ teammates decided to join him during his postgame press conference Thursday night.

To celebrate reaching the NBA Finals, the guys took a podium selfie, with James pausing mid-answer to smile for the picture.

Elite Shon Coleman Jersey Detroit 鈥?Luke Kennard, SG, Duke. Kennard has made sense for the Pistons all along, and the way he has shot the ball in workouts has helped make him go from a stretch for this team to a very solid outcome, should he still be on the board. He made 43.8 percent of his 3-pointers last year, and though he projects to be a defensive liability in the NBA, shooting is at a premium, especially in Detroit.

Denver 鈥?Zach Collins, C, Gonzaga. Collins played only 17.3 minutes per game for Gonzaga, but his per-40-minute stats are the reason teams have such interest: 23.2 points, 13.6 rebounds, 4.1 blocked shots and 65.2 percent shooting. He has shown flashes of range out to the 3-point line, and has potential as a high-post playmaker. Collins’ limited playing time means there are questions about his defense and conditioning, but his potential is obvious.

Miami 鈥?Donovan Mitchell, SG, Louisville. The Heat have a need at power forward, but they expect to address that through free agency 鈥?anyone they choose here would require time to be an NBA contributor. Mitchell is a dynamic and athletic scorer who could help the Heat brace for Dion Waiters’ free agency.

Portland 鈥?Justin Jackson, SF, North Carolina. Jackson was the ACC’s Player of the Year after averaging 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists and leading UNC to a national championship. The knocks on him are that he was not a great rebounder or defensive player, signs that he is not a top-level athlete and that he is already 22 years old. But Jackson is a solid all-around wing who can handle the ball and make plays as well as shoot for himself. The Blazers have three picks in this draft, and could consider a big man, but they need help on the wing, too.

Falcons silencing Seahawks’ ‘Legion of Boom’ should speak volumes… to 49ers

The Falcons have tried to become the Seahawks of the NFC South under Dan Quinn. Thanks to Kyle Shanahan, the Falcons embarrassed the Seahawks of the NFC West.

Let’s hope the 49ers the Seahawks’ stumbling division rival and now only NFL team without a head coach for 2017 paid attention to how Atlanta dismantled The Legion of Boom in Saturday night’s 36-20 divisional playoff rout of Seattle.

That’s exactly the offense San Francisco knows it needs to build with it’s new GM. That’s exactly why it should be ready to hire Shanahan as that new head coach whenever the Falcons are done with their playoff run which may not be for a while.

First place, North. Green Bay jumped up here with the Lions’ loss on Monday because of the head-to-head tiebreaker. It still needs to beat the Lions in Week 17 to win the North, or it would need help from a Redskins loss to get in as a wild card.

Wild card. New York lost to the Eagles, but it still clinched a wild-card berth with the Buccaneers’ loss.

Wild card. Detroit fell out of first place in the North with Monday’s loss in Dallas. It can still get in as North champs by beating the Packers next Sunday. A loss would mean the Lions need the Redskins to lose in order to make it as a wild card.

In the end, Kaepernick proved he is still an NFL quarterback. Maybe not the one who expanded the horizons of how the position is played just three seasons ago, except in brief glimpses here and there. But he also made fools of everybody who insisted he was about to get cut and would disappear from the league for good.

In a league where Case Keenum, Cody Kessler and Matt Barkley (not to mention Blaine Gabbert on his own team) started for significan’t portions of the season not to mention a league where Brock Osweiler, Connor Cook and Matt Moore are starting playoff games this weekend it’s impossible to declare that Kaepernick has no place.avalanche_248

Teams with head coaching vacancies eyeing Texans’ Bill O’Brien, report says

Authentic Mens Carter Hutton Jersey
Six NFL teams are in the market for a new head coach, and some of them may be cheering for the Oakland Raiders to beat the Houston Texans in Saturday’s AFC wild-card game at NRG Stadium.

Despite Bill O’Brien leading the Texans to their second straight AFC South title in his third year as head coach, there is a solid possibility he may be on his way out of Houston, and many organizations looking to fill coaching vacancies have their eye on him, NFL Media reports.

A coach trade or a mutual parting of the ways between O’Brien and the Texans are potential outcomes, according to the report.

The Bills, Broncos, Jaguars, Rams, Chargers and 49ers all need to hire a new head coach.
Michael Harris Mens Jersey
Should O’Brien move on to one of those teams, Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, a Texans assistant from 2006-09, is a possible replacement for Houston.

Green Bay has depth across its offensive line, but the Packers repeatedly have been ravaged by injuries. Ramczyk, who has declared for the draft, played left tackle in his only year at Wisconsin, but Green Bay likely could move him inside or to right tackle.

Seattle needs a left and/or right tackle, but I’ve been told the Seahawks not in a rush to fine one and like what they’ve seen so far from work-in-progress George Fant at left tackle. Jones is a first-round-worthy defensive lineman who can play that versatile interior spot for the Seahawks.

Diamondbacks catcher 鈥?and former Marlin teammate of Bour’s 鈥?Jeff Mathis was on the receiving end of the 6-3, 265-pound Bour’s stolen base, so he signed the bag to commemorate the moment, at Bour’s request, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Congrats on your 1st stolen base since Little League, Mathis wrote, getting a few friendly jabs in at Bour. It was tough trying to make a throw w/ the ground shaking but鈥?

I lost a couple of hours of sleep last night because of that, Mathis said after Bour’s stolen base, according to the Sun Sentinel. I don’t know if I’m going to sign it yet or what. I got to come up with something good.

Mathis has thrown out 36 percent of baserunners attempting to steal on him in 2017.

There’s no word as to whether or not the National Baseball Hall of Fame has reserved a spot for the base in Cooperstown.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said after Wednesday’s game that Keuchel (9-0 with a 1.67 ERA) has been sick for the last couple of days.

Giants’ Eli Manning, slayer of Patriots, has unique legacy

For the rest of the time professional football is played, America will look back at nearly two decades of dominance by the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, and ask itself … “The Giants? Huh? Eli Manning? What?”

Those will be the questions about Manning’s NFL legacy, too.

How do you assess his career and where he stands among the quarterbacking greats? For that matter, does he stand among the quarterbacking greats?

It seems as if he should. Manning will always have that comeback to any naysayers or skeptics, were he the type to clap back at them: “2-0. And not just 2-0, 2-0 against Tom Brady. And not just that, 1-0 against the only 16-0 team ever.’’

Is there a perfect solution for football overtime? Absolutely not. Balancing length of game concerns with a fair format is impossible. There are major flaws in both the relatively new NFL system and the gimmicky, alternating, short field college setup.

The key is to find the sweet spot. With the Super Bowl, the NFL can go marathon. Heck, the game already is a lot longer with a halftime that lasts double the time of a normal one.

The Super Bowl always provides drama and excitement, and our first taste of OT in the big game was fantastic … but more so for the Patriots’ in achieving that result than how the final TD was scored. Extending the time likely would not have taken anything away.

The Falcons, with a long offseason ahead, can wonder what could have been. But the next team in their cleats at least needs to be able to touch the ball in overtime of the Super Bowl.

The Patriots have won four of their six previous trips

How many times you’ve been there can become irrelevant fast. The Patriots are the best example, as the team that rolled into New Orleans for Super Bowl 36 as overwhelming underdogs to the dominant recent champion Rams and took them down.

The Patriots have won four of their six previous trips. The Falcons lost the one previous trip. But the Falcons didn’t sneak in or get lucky. The numbers, especially from the presumptive MVP Matt Ryan, speak for themselves.

On Super Sunday, their time will come to speak for themselves against the NFL’s dynasty of the 21st century.

Here are SN’s picks and predictions for Super Bowl 51.

“You know you’re going to be in positions where you’re up in a big game. You’ve got to do the little things right to find a way so this (opponent) won’t come back. You’ve got to find a guy who makes an extra play in the game.”

Seattle edged Atlanta at home in Week 6 of the regular season, well before a 36-20 playoff loss at the Georgia Dome. Matt Ryan’s 322 passing yards in the latter game was the highest total yielded all season by the Seahawks’ defense, which failed to neutralize Atlanta’s waves of skill-position personnel.

Koa Misi Mens Jersey “From the top down with the offensive coordinator (Kyle Shanahan) to all the different weapons they have, they just find a way to put (defensive) guys in bad positions,” Wright said.

Atlanta bars can stay open late after Falcons-Patriots

Bars within the Atlanta city limits normally have to stop serving alcohol once the clock ticks past 11:59 p.m. on Sunday nights.

Super Bowl 51 will be over by that time this Sunday, but Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed wants to make sure the populace has sufficient time to process all of its emotions after the Falcons-Patriots showdown in Houston.

Big Ben somewhat stunned the football world when he insinuated he might walk away from the NFL. His leaving the Steelers would completely change the dynamic of the team, but the likelihood of that should be slim.

Roethlisberger agreed a contract extension with the Steelers in 2015 that paid him a $31 million signing bonus. Per NFL rules, the Steelers would have the right if Roethlisberger retired to recover any portion of that bonus not yet accounted for on the salary cap. That number is $18.6 million, or about $850,000 more than Roethlisberger made last year.
Wesley Johnson Kids Jersey
So while Roethlisberger maybe is about to embark on the Brett Favre phase of his career, during which he publicly talks retirement every season, there is no reason to think he will actually retire. The Steelers should be able to consider him a lock at starter for the next two years.

Most recently, Sullivan had Jacksonville’s duo of Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

Robinson was a second-round pick out of Penn State in 2014. After an underwhelming rookie season, Robinson had a breakout season in 2015 with 80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He was a big-time receiver, good size; he had a great vertical jump, Sullivan said of the 6-3, 209-pound Robinson who ran a 4.6-second 40 at the combine. He led the league in catches of 20 yards or more.

May 17, 1979: The day the Cubs scored 22 runs and lost to the Phillies

It’s usually safe to assume that when a major league team breaks the 20-run mark in a game, that team will win that game.

Unless that team was the Cubs in 1979.

On May 17, 1979 38 years ago today the Cubs put on an amazing offensive performance, scoring 22 runs on 26 hits, which would’ve been an amazing victory had the Phillies not put up 23 runs on 24 hits.

Yes, the wind was blowing out that day at Wrigley.

It was a bit of a controversial decision to bat George Springer leadoff this season. The young outfielder had proven power, but had not quite reached the average and on-base percentage usually associated with a leadoff hitter.

Less than a week ago (May 25), Springer was batting .231 and had seemingly lost his power stroke. But in his last six games, Springer has racked up five multi-hit efforts, four home runs and seven RBIs. He went 4 for 4 with two solo home runs Wednesday, finally showcasing just how dangerous he can be at the plate.

It’s likely that opinion will look wrong in the short term. Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring), Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb), Steven Matz (shoulder) and Seth Lugo (elbow) will provide a boost when they return from the disabled list. But the Mets have 60 games from Thursday through the July 31 nonwaiver trade deadline. That’s a lot of time for more injuries and more bullpen failures. That will also be a period without ace Noah Syndergaard and closer Jeurys Familia.
